Much of the work of the NCADA is accomplished through its committees and practice groups. There are currently eight practice groups, as well as the Young Lawyers group and the newly formed Paralegal Division. The purpose of the practice groups and committees is to oversee and coordinate the various functions of the organization and to address the specialty practice areas of our members. Members are invited to participate in any practice group of interest at no extra fee.

The Committees are regulated by the NCADA's Board of Directors who may establish, divide, combine or dissolve any committees it deems advisable for the efficient operation and to reach the goals of the association.

As practice areas change and become more specialized and defense counsel concentrates on one or two areas of expertise, the NCADA will seek to assist its members in their professional development through the Practice Groups. For those who wish to switch emphasis, change the focus of their caseloads, enlarge their practice or diversify their client base, the NCADA will become an invaluable resource.

The purpose of the Practice Groups is to advance the stated purposes of the Association and to encourage participation by its members in the activities of the Association. Each of these groups is responsible, within the area of law and practice area indicated by its name, for monitoring developments, seeking ways and means of improving law or procedure, and cooperating with the continuing legal education programs of the Association, and other appropriate projects and groups in furthering the knowledge and skills of the defense bar in that area of practice and in furthering the interests of the Association as a whole.
