Disciplined Listening: Get What You Ask For
A Certified Forensic Interveiwer's Guide to Strategic Inquiry
Michael Reddington, CFI, President of InQuasive
Few things are worse than being surprised by the truth in the courtroom. Intake interviews, witness interviews, depositions and trial preparations all offer opportunities to learn critical information prior to appearing before a judge. The questions lawyers ask their potential clients and witnesses can make the difference between taking on a strong client, or taking on a significant risk. Michael Reddington, CFI will discuss the strategies and tactics Certified Forensic Interviewers rely on in the interview room to obtain the truth from victims, witnesses and suspects.  At the end of this session all attendees will walk away with new skills, perspectives and techniques including how to:

  • Apply the four components of creating great questions
  • Understand the six pragmatic modes of questioning
  • Follow the rules of strategic inquiry Certified Forensic Interviewers follow
  • Integrate the favored persuasion techniques of Certified Forensic Interviewers into their questions
  • Adapt and design new questions to increase their ability to obtain the truth during critical interview
